Editorial
The articles published in this special issue are part of the 3rd St. Paul’s University Annual
International Research Conference (SPUAIRC 2023) that took place from 24th to and 26th
October 2023 at St Paul’s University, Limuru campus. The conference theme was “Innovation
and Digital Technology Approaches: A response to 21st Century Challenges of Climate Change
and Sustainable Development” The conference was blended with virtual and physical attendance
at the Limuru campus. Participants were drawn from Universities Faculty members and students,
the private sector, and Professional bodies.
St Paul’s University takes cognizance that research is one of the Pillars that underpin learning
and teaching in institutions of higher learning. Therefore, the Conference aimed at strengthening
the research process and outputs particularly form the University faculty and postgraduate
students. SPUAIRC 2023 provided a platform where researchers shared their outputs and
experiences on various sub-themes for the conference.
The call for SPUAIRC 2023 conference papers attracted 45 papers mainly drawn from the
faculty and postgraduate students. Each paper was subjected to two reviewers from the
conference editorial board. Over 80 percent of the papers were accepted for presentation in the
conference. The papers were presented in very engaging virtual meetings in the two days
conference.
The conference steering committee would like to express its deepest appreciation to authors
whose research outputs are presented in these conference proceedings publication. We take
cognizance of their efforts and excellent contributions that made it possible to have the
conference as planned. The significance of the conference proceedings is a step towards
embracing innovation and digital technologies in a response to the challenges of climate change
and sustainable among the faculty, postgraduate students and the university community, as
envisaged in the universities mission statement.
The steering committee would like to pass a vote of to the keynote speakers for their acceptance
to give keynote addresses during the conference. Their ability to engage the participants and
online audience with their wide and rich experiences in distinguished talks is worth noting. We
would also like to offer our gratitude to all the conference rapporteurs and session chairs for
managing the presentations so well, and availing the presenters’ reports promptly.
Finally, we hope scholars and readers will enjoying reading our outstanding conference
proceedings publication in this special issue in the St Paul’s University African Multidisciplinary
Journal of Research.
